Updated: How to Watch UH Sports

Main Post:

UPDATE 09/23/2021

UH Football

The UH Football game is only available online through (FlowFootball)[https://www.flofootball.com/articles/7126213-how-to-watch-2021-hawaii-vs-new-mexico-state} and is $19.99/month. If you opt to listen only then it is available through ESPN 1420 as usual.

UH Wahine Volleyball

Both the road games this week will be streamed online but will not be on ESPN+. The stream will only consist of a single video camera following the action. There will be no announcers or have any other production elements like replay. The streams do require that you create a free account with each school. The accounts are not verified in any way that I can tell. If you opt to listen only then it is available through ESPN 1420 as usual.

Whether a road game will be on ESPN+ or not depends on the hosting school's ability to provide a stream up to ESPN+ standards. Please check the UH Athletics web page as links to matches will be updated as the season progresses.

UH Wahine Soccer

No changes

Watching UH sports is a little confusing because they play in two Conferences that have different media deals. So I put together something that hopefully makes it a little easier. I was planning on doing it last week but forgot (I was lazy).

No schedules for the Winter Sports have been announced yet but the broadcasts should follow the Women's Volleyball/Soccer model. Home games will be on Spectrum with the exception of the DHC which will be on ESPN. Road games will be on ESPN+.

UH Football

If the games are on Spectrum and you are in Hawaii then it is PPV only. The PPV is available for purchase on Spectrum and Hawaiian Telcom. There is the VPN option but that is up to you to figure out.

If the games are on Spectrum and you are outside Hawaii the games are available on the Team 1 Sports app. I believe it is free but I have never tried to use it. If anyone has and has more information please feel free to chime in.

UH is also scheduled to play 5 more games on cable TV. They will be on Fox, Fox Sports 1/2 and CBS Sports. Check your cable providers for what channel it is. I have listed the upcoming schedule below.

UH Football Schedule:

  • 8/28 at UCLA - ESPN (Let's forget about this game)
  • 9/4 Portland State - Spectrum
  • 9/11 at Oregon State - Fox Sports 1
  • 9/18 San Jose State - Fox Sports 1
  • 9/25 at New Mexico State - TBA (probably Spectrum) FlowFootball.com
  • 10/2 Fresno State - CBS Sports
  • 10/16 at Nevada - CBS Sports
  • 10/23 New Mexico State - Spectrum
  • 10/30 at Utah State - Spectrum
  • 11/6 San Diego State - Fox/FS1/FS2
  • 11/13 at UNLV - Spectrum
  • 11/20 Colorado State - Spectrum
  • 11/27 at Wyoming - Spectrum

Women's Volleyball

If you are in Hawaii, all Women's Volleyball home games will be broadcast on Spectrum Sports for free. If you are outside of Hawaii, the home games will be on ESPN+. I'm not sure if you're in Hawaii you can watch the games on ESPN+ or if it's blocked. Previously the home games were blocked in Big West TV.

There are 2 more non Conference road games that will be broadcast.

https://www.espn.com/search/_/q/hawaii%20volleyball

The September 2nd game vs Utah Valley will be on ESPN+ at 1pm HST.

https://www.espn.com/search/_/q/hawaii%20volleyball

The September 4th game vs Utah will be on Pac 12 stream at 3pm HST.

https://pac-12.com/live/university-utah

For the Big West, all road games that will be broadcast will be on ESPN+. At this time no road games have been announced to be shown.

Women's Soccer

There will be 3 Women's Soccer home games that will be broadcast. All 3 are on Spectrum and will presumably be on ESPN+ outside of Hawaii. They are September 23th vs CSUN, September 30th vs Cal Poly, and October 14th vs Irvine.

So far there are 2 non Conference road games that are going to be broadcast. All 3 of Hawaii's non conference schedule are going to be broadcast.

September 2nd vs Gonzaga at 4pm on the WCC network.

https://wccsports.com/watch/?sid=466857

September 5th vs Washington State at 8am HST on the PAC12 network.

https://pac-12.com/live/washington-state-university

September 8th vs Idaho at 3pm HST on ESPN+.

https://govandals.com/sports/womens-soccer/schedule

There have been no Conference games that have been announced to be broadcast. If they are they will be on ESPN+.

EDIT

I did some more poking around the schedules of various opponents. It looks like the UH schedules for Volleyball and Soccer are not up to date.

For instance if you look at Long Beach's Volleyball/Soccer schedules it shows that all it's home games for both sports will be on ESPN+. But Irvine doesn't have any information on broadcasts. For road games in these two sports it seems like your best bet is just check if it's being shown closer to game time.

The fact that they fucking walk in so-mi's house is where I lost it. It's really cool how this show just showcases normal people and city provinces. Any other good eps from this series? I really loved this ep.

I really liked the one with Se Jeong, personally. Also, if you like Knowing Brothers you would like any of the episodes the cast members show up on.

UH Sports on TV

Main Post:

I have recently moved to Maui, and was surprised to see that UH Football is not shown on local TV or even cable sports. When I asked a neighbor about it, they said that you have buy PPV, to watch the games... WTF? Is that for real? Why would locals have to PPV the local college sports programs, that are funded by State taxpayers? I've lived all over the country, and have never lived anywhere, where locals had to buy a PPV package, to watch local college sports. It was always available OTA on local channels, or at the very least, part of a cable sports lineup.

The September 12, 2021, Missouri State at Oklahoma game was pay per view. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-schedule-2021-week-times-espn-fox-cbs-nbc-abc/2/

As for why UH can do PPV, the answer is basically money. UH is not part of the Mountain West football television package, so it gets to negotiate its own deal. Oceanic Time Warner (now Spectrum) offered the most money and no one rioted in street so it just stuck. https://www.mwcconnection.com/2014/3/3/5463792/hawaii-football-extends-deal-with-ocenaic-ppv-through-2019
